CrossRoads Missions and our partner Digital Promotions are using their resources to produce respiratory filters for health care workers. As we face the pandemic of COVID-19, we have formed partnerships with local surgeons, emergency room physicians, primary care doctors, respiratory therapists, CRG Automation, H3: Helping Healthcare Heroes, filter companies and many others, to mass produce respiratory filters for our front-line health care workers. Rob Minton, our Director has helped put this collation together and serves with their oversight board.
Rob has marshaled the resources and retooled our commercial embroidery equipment to rapidly produce thousands of masks. Our plan is to use our professional staff and key volunteers to assist in production. We are seeking volunteers to cut and potentially sew in a social distancing and sanitary environment at our main office in Louisville.
Our initial goals are to produce an estimated 50,000 masks using the specialized filter material we have on hand. The developed prototype mask developed by Rob and our DP staff has been approved by different front-line workers in our cities for comfort and durability.
Our masks will be used in every way possible except directly with those infected with the virus. Those workers will get the very best N95 masks. Our partners make those determinations.
Our partners are doing the necessary sourcing of the highest quality materials available. We cannot take any donated material as everything used in the production must be hospital use grade. Our partners will also determine who gets the masks in a critical need basis.
As a ministry, we have made the decision to not charge anyone for these masks we produce in this critical time. Instead we are asking for monetary donations to cover the production of the masks and the material needed. We feel that together we can partner and do what we always do - make a difference in our communities as we reach out with the love of Christ. In this case, it is directly to our heroes on the front line during this time of crisis. A side benefit is that this will allow us to recall some of our Digital Promotion workers who can run our machines for this purpose
